Building a First RPG Party That Doesn't Fall Apart

Building a First RPG Party That Doesn't Fall Apart

September 19, 2026 · Lukas Vogel

Mobile RPGs love to throw characters at you, and it's easy to end up with a party of four damage dealers that crumbles the moment anything hits back. A little structure early saves a lot of frustration.

My default is one durable front-liner, one healer or support, and two flexible damage slots. It's not glamorous, but it survives. From there you can specialize once you understand the game's quirks.

Don't fall in love with a character's design and build around it blindly. Read the skills, not the portrait. A plain-looking support who applies debuffs often outperforms the flashy attacker you wanted on your team.

Finally, use respec options if the game offers them. The games that let you experiment cheaply are the ones where party building actually becomes fun instead of a trap.
